Thephrase.id - Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs) 2021 baru saja diselenggarakan pada Minggu (23/5/2021) malam waktu setempat atau Senin (24/5/2021) pagi WIB di Microsoft Theater, Los Angeles.

The Weeknd menjadi pemenang utama dalam penghargaan ini dengan menyabet 10 penghargaan secara total, termasuk penghargaan utama dari BBMAs yaitu Top Artist, serta Top 100 Artist dan Top Hot 100 Song.
Dibawakan oleh Nick Jonas, BBMAs juga memberikan P!nk penghargaan Icon Award, Drake sebagai Artist of the Decade dan Trae Tha Truth sebagai Change Maker.

Acara BBMAs digelar secara offline yang ditonton 500-600 orang secara langsung dengan mengikuti protokol kesehatan. Sebagian pertunjukan dari pengisi acara telah direkam sebelum acara live dimulai. Beberapa penampilan spesial dibawakan oleh P!nk bersama anaknya, Alicia Keys yang bernyanyi medley lagu hit-nya setelah diperkenalkan oleh Michelle Obama melalui video, serta DJ Khaled ft. H.E.R. dan Migos yang penampilannya dilaksanakan di downtown Los Angeles pada Minggu malam dengan kehadiran fans.
BTS, grup asal Korea Selatan juga menampilkan lagu terbaru mereka berjudul “Butter” secara virtual. BTS membawa pulang 4 piala BBMAs tahun ini. Ini adalah penghargaan terbanyak yang didapatkan BTS semenjak kemunculannya pertama kali dalam nominasi BBMAs tahun 2017. Selain menjadi pemenang Top Social Artist selama 5 tahun berturut-turut, tahun ini BTS memenangkan Top Duo/Group, Top Song Sales Artist, and Top Social Artist.

Penghargaan Billboard Music Awards diberikan berdasarkan data dari Billboard chart yang direkam oleh Billboard serta partner datanya, termasuk MRC Data dari 21 Maret 2020 hingga 3 April 2021.
